Ken Duncan Sr. (San Carlos Apache), Father/Director.

Ken is a graduate of the Institute of American Indian Arts; Santa Fe, NM. Ken is an accomplished Storyteller/ Lecturer. He is also a Flute Player and Traditional Apache Craftsman. Recently nominated candidate as one of Arizona's Culture keepers 2003.

 

Doreen Duncan (Arikara, Hidatsa & Mandan), Mother/Manager,

Graduate of Arizona State University College of Education. Doreen has extensive experience in Native American Cultural Interpretation including Educational Programs with the Heard Museum and as Museum Director for the Salt River Pima Maricopa Tribal Museum for 10 years in Scottsdale , AZ.

 

  • The Yellow Bird Indian Dancers, present a repertoire of authentic Apache, Southwest and Northern Plains Dances which are colorful yet educational. From the exciting Hoop Dance to the beautiful Apache Rainbow Dance, enhanced by native sign language and enchanting flute music. Presentations may also include children or adult "interactive" activities.

 

  • Sharing the heritage of the American Indian for many audiences including an international audiences and for a PBS national audience. These exceptionally accomplished dancers range in age from preschool to adult and are experienced in professional stage production.

 

  • The family group includes a FOUR time "WORLD'S CHAMPION TEEN HOOP DANCER" The group also includes the 2003 "WORLD'S CHAMPION YOUTH HOOP DANCER."

 

  • 23 year old Tony Duncan has repeatedly placed in the top 3 in the MEN'S WORLD HOOP DANCE CHAMPIONSHIP.

 

  • Flute player for many different occasions, background music of weddings, corporate events or festivals.
